Lydia Rozental, Registered M.A.(psych), Clinical Councelor

I have been a practicing clinician for over 30 years, clinical supervisor and a teacher/presenter for 15, yoga practitioner for over 17 years and yoga therapist for 5 years.

I have worked in three different cultures (Israel, South Africa and Canada) and in a variety of settings, from the non profit sector, hospitals, clinics, the academia and the army to the private sector.

The above have equipped me with the life experience, knowledge and skills to benefit my clients which have included women and men of all ages, socio-economic status, of a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and differing gender and sexual orientations. I work with individuals, couples, groups (lay and professional), students and clinicians in the field of mental health.

The qualities I bring to my therapeutic, supervisory and academic work are passion in making change possible and the ability to hold on to hope, the ability to promote negotiation and collaboration rather than power over, the ability to balance support and empathy for people’s suffering with the need to promote growth and hold self and clients accountable for their words and actions, and the ability to see the big picture as well as working with the details of the possibility to change. In the last 5 years, I have been developing an innovative approach which combines counselling and yoga concepts, Western and Eastern knowledges and a fit for the unique strengths and limitations of each client. As I am learning about and applying more and more body wisdom, mindful presence and spiritual awareness, I find that clients can heal better and transform their suffering, whichever form it takes, into feeling safer, calmer, more content with their lives and relationships and actively engaged with life.

I am also a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Murli Soni, MA. RCC Registered clinical counsellor

In my six years working as a Counsellor & Coach, I have had the pleasure of successfully
helping my many clients to work through a variety of issues such as dealing with the impact
of traumatic events, work-related problems, food and weight concerns, issues with fertility or
children, relationship concerns, anxiety and phobias, loss & grief, poor communication and low
self-esteem. I have also helped many clients who were just feeling stuck in either their personal
or professional lives and needed help moving forward.

My approach is holistic and is based on the understanding that we need a healthy body, mind
and spirit to function effectively. I focus on connection and compassion to create a safe and non-
judgmental environment for you to explore and identify the areas of your life that need to be
addressed. We would then work together in a solution-focused manner to help you to release the
things that are not serving you, without necessarily needing long-term therapy, so that you can
move forward and lead your best life.

I have a Masters degree in Integrative Counselling, I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and
a specialist in Cognitive–Behavioural Therapy. However, I use a variety of evidence-based
counselling and coaching-based interventions to help my clients to identify their strengths &
work through their challenges. As an ACMA as well as a therapist I have a good understanding
of the demands of the corporate world.

I am a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and the British Association for
Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. I also work as a Counselling instructor on a part-
time basis and train the trainers in the ‘Living Life to the Full’ self-help program run by the
Canadian Mental Health Association www.llttf.ca.

Heidi Shimo, RMT

I graduated from the 3000 hour Massage and Hydrotherapy program from Utopia Academy in 2009. Before my studies at Utopia Academy, I was a patient counsellor and an ophthalmic technician for seven years. I was inspired to become a massage therapist after experiencing the benefits massage therapy offered while I was training for marathons and triathlons.

Looking after my body, eating well and staying active are things I do to form the basis of a healthy lifestyle. I am a firm believer that massage therapy is a safe, effective and non-invasive method in enhancing our quality of life and renewing the body’s sense of freedom.

I provide personalized treatments that heal and rejuvenate the body. While the body is undergoing a restorative process, I encourage my clients to find unity between their minds and their bodies. In doing so, one will achieve greater awareness of their body’s condition and therefore, be able to promptly respond with the best kind of care the body needs. I also provide comprehensive self-care instructions at the end of each session.
Treatment modalities I use consist of Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Release, Myofascial Release, Joint Mobilization, Swedish Techniques, Breath Training and Stretching.

My mission as an RMT is not only to facilitate in the recovery of a person’s physical health but also to empower my clients with my knowledge so that they can achieve their individual health goals with confidence and ease.

Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, cycling, hiking and playing with my young daughter.

Gabriela Menyhart, RMT

I’ve had the pleasure of working as an RMT for 5 years and my passion for this work continues to grow every day. My approach to my work is multi-faceted and there are many things I consider important in providing beneficial therapeutic treatments. My treatments are based on adapting various factors including what brings you in, what I have assessed that the body needs and what the short-term/long-term goals are. The body is unique each time you come in so I value taking the time to provide a thorough assessment to find what the body needs in that session. Similar to osteopathy, I try to understand how best I can facilitate the body’s own natural healing abilities. I truly enjoy being a support or a bridge to help people whether it is a massage to help relax from stressful experiences, lifting a box and straining the back or recovering from an accident such as a motor vehicle accident. I use a variety of techniques including deep tissue, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy and muscle energy technique (effective joint work). I also encourage clients to take an active roll in the recovery of their health by helping to answer questions and explaining what is taking place during treatments. One important note is that pain is often a poor indicator of the source of the problem so at times I see my work as a detective and together we work to find the solution. Please feel free to visit my website www.gabrielamenyhart.com for further information on myself and my work as well as emailing or calling for any questions you may have.

Kelly Sayler, Feldenkrais practitioner

Kelly Sayler is a California Guild Feldenkrais practitioner and Pilates instructor with over 10 years experience. These combined bodies of knowledge
create a unique perspective on movement, health and wellness.

The Feldenkrais MethodTM of somatic education is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their natural abilities to move, think and feel. Too many visits to the doctors office for pain are related to poor movement patterns. Most of us are nottaught how our bodies move and thus are not aware of our movement habits that can lead to pain, injury or poor performance. We improve our well being when we learn
to fully use ourselves. Kelly provides gentle, innovative movement lessons that allow you to observe your movement habits and learn some more comfortable and efficient alternatives.

Originally a native of Vancouver, Kelly has followed her passion for mind and body
throughout her life. Dedicated to continuous learning, Kelly has participated in numerous
advanced Feldenkrais trainings, received an additional Pilates Certification from Dianne
Miller and regularly attends various other body/mind workshops.

“It lifts my spirit and gives me a deep sense of purpose to guide people toward the
living of life with greater comfort, awareness and fulfillment.” Kelly Sayler

What clients say…

“My Feldenkrais lessons with Kelly Sayler have been most beneficial and therapeutic
for dealing with the effects of rheumatoid arthritis, long hours of daily computer use,
and general stress. These lessons give me a lasting sense of lightness and well-
being and a wonderful combination of energy and relaxation. They are so pleasantly
relaxing that I often fall asleep during the lesson!”

Deborah Gibson

“For three years I have prospered in the care of Kelly Sayler. She draws from a
wealth of knowledge and experience in both Pilates and Feldenkrais. And she has
the very special gifts of understanding her clients and the ability to communicate
clearly with them. I cannot recommend her too highly.”
