Chraniosacral Therapy (CST)
Very gentle treatment is sometimes the best. Harmony’s Craniosacral therapist has extensive experience working with a wide range of clients. She has worked with patients recovering from serious accidents, seeking relief from degenerative illnesses, pregnant and labouring women, children, and many others.
The Craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the central nervous system from the cranium (skull), to the sacrum (tailbone). Any type of imbalance or restriction in these areas can lead to a variety of sensory, motor, or neurological dysfunctions in the body. CST can help a wide range of ailments such as headaches and migraines, pain syndromes, TMJ, stress, emotional issues, insomnia, etc.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on technique developed by William Sutherland and developed further by Dr. John Upledger.? It involves gentle manipulation for remedying distortions in the structure and function of the brain and spinal cord, the bones of the skull and the underlying membranes, the sacrum and the interconnected membranes throughout the body.
A practitioner is able to “listen” with their hands to what is called the cranial rhythmic impulse, which runs throughout our bodies. Generally the touch is only a few grams, which allows the body to relax deeply during the session.? It works by supporting the body’s ability to free up restrictions and heal from physical or emotional traumas that may have occured anywhere in the body.
CST is good for many things during pregnancy, birth and childhood including:
Birth trauma (forceps, cesarean etc.), mother- child bonding difficulty, breast feeding difficulties, motor-coordination impairments, colic, central nervous system disorders, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, scoliosis, infantile disorders, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, emotional difficulties, stress and tension-related symptoms
CST can be used for many ailments in general practice:
Chronic pain, headaches and migraines, helping cope with emotional upsets/ imbalances, brain or spinal chord injury, digestive complaints, surgery rehabilitation, tension related problems, jaw and mouth problems such as TMJ, ear problems (ear aches, tinnitus, balance), and more.
